In which The Author discovers he’s not paranoid
For the third day in a row I’ve been unable to access my blog in Aberdare Library. On Wednesday and Thursday this week, I thought their piss-poor wifi was responsible. It’s now Friday, and I’ve discovered something interesting.
Not only is my blog blocked, but so are several other WordPress blogs which I follow and/or subscribe to. It’s my guess that the entire WordPress domain has been blacklisted by the IT department of Rhondda Cynon Taf CBC.
I admit that I’ve got no hard evidence to support this theory. However, it does seem odd that after I’ve spent a fair amount of time highlighting the shortfalls of their IT provision (amongst other things!), the vehicle I’ve used to bring these issues to a wider audience suddenly becomes inaccessible.
When it comes to situations like this, Ian Fleming came up with a motto which sums up my philosophy pretty neatly. It’s one of the nicest lines in a James Bond book, and it’s a shame that it was never used in the film. It’s said by Auric Goldfinger to Bond himself, when they meet for the third time:
‘Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action.’
