The Vanishing Valleys

Many of the photos in this blog are watermarked with a link to the Vanishing Valleys website. You might have tried to follow the link, and been greeted by a blank placeholder. For the time being, I’ll explain a bit about the idea here.
The Vanishing Valleys Project is an ongoing scheme to try and record as many of the old buildings, industrial relics and other historic sites of South Wales. When I say it’s ongoing, I mean that I tend to do a bit here and there, as the mood takes me.
I’ve accumulated several thousand photos already, but (as you can imagine) uploading them to a website is going to be very time-consuming and costly. For the time being I’ve added smaller versions to posts in this blog. The full-size photos are much higher resolution, suitable for printing and framing. I’m toying with the idea of eventually selling high-quality prints via the Internet, but at the moment there are just selected thumbnails in this blog.
I’ve yet to do any work on the site itself, but by publishing them here I hope I’ve given you a taste of the project. If you’ve got any ideas for places I can visit, please feel to suggest them in the Comments box. I can’t guarantee you I’ll get there any time soon, but all suggestions would be gratefully received.
